About Me#

Hi! My name is Dina. I’m a gal in tech, and I love to tinker with software and hardware.

My first time meeting with programming was in Garry’s Mod around 13 (was the first game I’ve bought after getting my first laptop in the same year!), when I was trying to do something in the Starfall in-game programming language. That’s how I was introduced to client-server first time in my life 😅.

In the same year I was left with highly unstable internet access, and somehow I’ve got to amazing book called C# Player’s Guide. Next three months no one was able to get me out of laptop. That was how I learned C#, still the language I still would always call The Best One without hesitation, and I could go for hours speaking about how beautiful it is.

Right now I have experience of working with a LOT of languages. It’s my only hobby (I don’t really like videogames). I’ve got experience working with a lot of stacks, including:

  • C#
    • Avalonia (MVVM and ReactiveUI),
    • ASP.NET Minimal APIs with Entity Framework,
    • Plugins for EXILED framework and native API alike with LiteDB for storage (my first experience of paid work BTW!),
  • TypeScript
    • Minecraft Bedrock Edition addons, needed for my personal use (connecting Minecraft and Discord chats with Python as a Discord bot and a relay, plus gameplay behavior modification),
    • Contributing barely to development of a React application with large help of its maintainer,
    • Discord bot for personal use,
  • Go
    • TUI application, which I didn’t manage to finish because I can’t stand Elm architecture pattern,
  • C
    • Also a personal project in which I lost interest very quickly, but I liked simplicity of C,
  • Java
    • A plugin for personal Minecraft Paper server to carry blocks with storage without breaking them (TODO: release on GitHub),
    • A few little personal mods to slightly change gameplay behavior, like bonemealing, when it wasn’t available on any existing mod for the same version,
  • C++
    • Just one project - KRunner plugin providing conversions for currencies not available in the original plugins,
  • Python
    • Just my own quick scripts for file conversion or MP3 editing,
    • That one bot I’ve mentioned eariler.

Those all were mostly projects that I could mark as something unique. Besides that, I was experimenting with Rust, Zig, Gleam, and a lot of other languages. Of course, I can’t prove that most of those projects have existed, because, well, I’m too lazy to end them :(, and I don’t release what I didn’t end. Well, not like it would serve as my portfolio anyways.

What I Use#

My old man, still my first laptop to the current day :)

It still runs Minecraft, the only game I play regularly with my boyfriend, and that’s all I need. The magic of Linux allows it to survive much further, with it being released in late 2015 at most.

As I have already said, I use Linux. To be exact, CachyOS (I did a manual Arch install once at 14 and found zero sense in repeating it - CachyOS embeds everything what I otherwise would’ve did myself).

I’ve tried a lot of DEs and WMs, and even though I liked Sway the most and sat there for couple weeks, I was always returning to KDE Plasma, for its convenience and incredible customization.

Who Is Me#

I’m Dina (she/her). I’m Belarusian by descent, but I’m living in Poland as a refugee from the events of 2020. I love this country and I plan to remain there for all of my life.

I’m 17 years old. I’m out of school and can’t continue education, so I spend all of my life trying to prepare for work. I would love to chat about something, if you’ll DM me somewhere where I exist.

I speak Russian as my native language, and I speak English as the language I’ve started to learn when I was around 7. I speak it as good as native speaker, mostly, though not always, and I still have some problems with punctuation. I also learn Polish.

My interests include:

  • Programming,
  • Reading books,
  • Politics (a lot of them), and that’s it. I didn’t get chance to dive into life as of now, as I was isolated from 6 to 12 years having books as my only resort. This was the point when I have learned how to read very quickly, and got pretty big dictionary in my head.

My political ideology is democratic socialism. I am also a Labor Zionist of Einstein type. I am highly opposed to campism - I support Ukraine, I support Taiwan, and I support Iranian opposition.

I am also trans. If you don’t like, go and educate yourself on this topic. Wikipedia should bring that to you.

What I Do#

Programming. That’s it, mostly. Also playing Minecraft, what I really like.

I also sometimes write articles there. If they are political, they are probably in Russian - English has too rigid grammar and I don’t feel comfortable.
